Add a CommentThis was Williams' first mass-published fantasy novel. His literary genius shines through plot twists which keep the reader on the edge of their seat and ensnares them emotionally. It is difficult to not quickly become attached to the characters in the novel, even the minor characters. The story focuses on the cat Tailchaser and his adventures in the forest near "his human's" abode. His childhood (or, perhaps, kittenhood) friend Hushpad mysteriously vanishes one night, and she never returns. Tailchaser embarks on an epic journey to find and rescue his friend from whatever ill fate has befallen her. Along the way, Tailchaser makes new friends and bitter enemies, and discovers some difficult truths about life and himself. This is a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys the fantasy genre or Williams' writing in-general. Highly recommended. Grade: A-.
