Add a CommentFor all of you that liked it the author is a columnist for the website Cracked.com with articles that are factual and hilarious. I visit it every day.
This book is all over the place. The twists and turns kept me reading. Its sci-fi, supernatural, fantasy feeling kept my imagination entertained for hours. I cannot wait to see if they do turn it into a movie or a mini-movie series on TV! It would be great! I highly recomment this book to all. There are some strange gorey moments just to warn you.
This is one of only two books that have actually made me laugh audibly, and the other one is Carter Finally Gets It. This is hands down one of the best novels I think I have ever read, and the original storyline is certainly something to behold. In short, I love it and strongly recommend it for people with a sense of humor as twisted as mine.
(To the other commentator, I think the reference was to "survival horror" genre console games more than FPSes - though I agree it was a weak and inexplicable part - but I digress) Rather difficult to bill as "conventional horror", this book is definitely high on originality, holding the same relationship to horror that Douglas Adams does to science fiction. It varies between parody (with mixed results) to investigative adventure to science-fiction to rather sincere creepiness. Its winding narrative seems to shy from a strong overarching "plot" and instead meanders through a whole world of the strange and often legitimately creepy, though with its tongue often wedged in its cheek. Overall it's solidly written and extremely creative, even if a few of its ventures wobble.
Starts off strong and irreverent / humorous. About half way through the book get’s weird with a HALO / first person shooter description and reference. It was hard to complete the book after that.
