Heard about this book on The View this morning. I have placed a hold at the library.
Well written story that will have you amazed at the tenacity of the human spirit. Not just for history buffs, it is a personal story that will enlighten you about the Pacific war and it's affect on Zamporini's life and those around him
I read this book in two days while on vacation. One of my top ten of 2012.
Great story! I could not put down. The details of the POW camps are very well done.
A very well-written and engaging story of one man and his friends who fought and were POWS during WWII. I don't think any of us can truly comprehend what that generation went through and how much they sacrificed throughout those years. Reading accounts like this is one way of honoring as well as remembering their strength and their belief in what they were fighting for.
Wow. An unbelievable story of one man's tenacity. Really reinforces the adage, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This really should be a must read, and should be required reading in high schools.
A riveting story of survival from WW II. I found the atrocities and abuse difficult to read and the testament to human spirit and endurance is almost overwhelming. However, if you like 'survival' stories, this is a good one.
a wow book highly reccomend to all!!!!
This true story of track star Louis Zamperini's life is an incredible survival story. I could have done without all the earlier information on his childhood and perhaps less details about his days as an Olympic athlete but his experiences in the war both before and after his capture by the Japanese was excellent reading. It's really amazing what he survived.
