Picking up this book on impulse, I was originally intrigued by the concept. Once into the story however, it was only my interest in the concept that brought me to its conclusion. The book was mildly entertaining, but came across as something better suited for a more adolescent audience. It appeared as if the author placed more emphasis upon the history of Archimedes and the legend of King Midas, rather than upon the details of the storyline itself. This is evinced by a fairly predictable plot, limited character development, seemingly effortless escapes from opposing forces, and no apparent consequences to a character's lawless actions within a foreign country. Conceptually the story held a greater potential, which just wasn't realized. The aspects of Archimedes' brilliance, combined with the proposition of the actual Midas Touch held such merit. I really wanted to like the book. It's just a shame that it was compromised by its own author.

Excellent book. Boyd Morrison has created a awesome hero, that is a gentleman and a soldier all in one. Two thumbs up!

A phenomenal read!!! This book has lots of action and the plot is great! You learn a lot about Archimedes and his principles, but it doesn't slow down the story I hope his other book is as good.
