When New Zealand women began riding bicycles in the 1890s, they excited intense public debate about feminine behaviour and appearance; what was it about cycling that provoked such a strong outcry? Join Clare Simpson as she explores these issues, some of which remain prevalent today.

In a former life, Clare was a senior academic at Lincoln University in the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
