Did you know you can see penguins from space?

Alexandra Strang and Alexa Hasselman will walk you through how to find penguin colonies on Google Earth. We will look at the two endemic penguins to Antarctica, the Emperor penguin and the Adélie penguin.

About the presenters:

Alexandra Strang – PhD student with Gateway Antarctica, University of Canterbury,

Alexandra's research focuses on the spatial and population ecology of Adélie penguins in the Ross Sea, using very high-resolution satellite imagery to monitor their colonies from space!

Alexa Hasselman - PhD student with Gateway Antarctica, University of Canterbury,

Alexa’s researching killer whale predation on endangered Steller sea lions using acoustics and camera observations
