Anthony Powell (Antz) is a multi-media filmmaker, camera equipment builder, and consultant who specialises in all things Antarctica. Over the years Antz has had to use his technical background to design and build many camera systems that can still function in the extreme cold of the Antarctic winter. He also assists researchers by creating specialised camera systems for them. He has done film work for Nat Geo, Discovery, BBC, and made the feature film Antarctica: A Year On Ice
Prof Rob Lindeman is Director of the Human Interface Technology Lab (HIT Lab NZ) at the University of Canterbury. He has been doing research on effective use of Virtual Reality (VR) for 30+ years, and has a particular focus on using 360-degree video and VR to empower people to communicate ideas and stories to the general public. In the Antarctic context, this means training field scientists to capture themselves talking about their work in their happy place (the Ice). Rob's techniques are also being used to empower Māori groups to capture, curate and share their stories about important taonga in a manner that fits their needs and desires.
