21 June to 31 August 2025.
Matariki-Puaka, a time for reflection, resetting and reconnecting. A time for focusing on wellbeing of mind, body and soul, of whānau, hapori, and our taiao.
It is a time that if we apply a holistic te ao Māori lens we can discover that which binds us to each other and our environment. Good tikanga based practice as demonstrated through Mahi Toi – Māori visual art practice is one way to ensure the wellbeing and sustainability of our natural resources.
Therefore, to highlight the interconnection of mahi toi and wellbeing we present TOIORA an exhibition exploring the interconnection of Māori weaving and wellbeing.
Featuring work from the Ōtautahi Weavers Collective and Ōtautahi based Kāi Tahu senior weavers and copper wire speciality weaver.
