Paula Brackston's writing is enchanting and ethereal. I loved the modern-day storyline of Xanthe (prononunced: "Zan-thee") and her mom, Flora, opening an antique shop. The historical timeline was well done, too. I really liked Samuel! There are plenty of characters and story arcs open to leave you hungering for more. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!

The first few chapters were a little slow and I almost stopped reading it. I am glad I continued. Very interesting after the first few chapters.

Worth a read but not a book to read again. It reminds me of the Outlander series minus the long ancestry of magically gifted people. Basically she can often see or feel the history in objects and when a restless spirit uses her to change history for her wronged daughter, the story begins. There is some romance but it doesn’t overwhelm the storyline. A nice summer read

A light and enjoyable read. Bits of mystery, romance, and lore. The moving through portal in time has slight resemblance to the series "Outlander". Well plotted with fine conclusion.
