Add a CommentReally stupid movie. Waste of time. At starts of the movie, it was good, then middle scenes I am done. Oh nah nah.
If you like non-stop tension and characters who have to do whatever they can to survive, then give this a try. Gina Rodriguez does an amazing job of playing a regular woman thrust into a terrifying situation; Ismael Cruz Córdova was the perfect choice for Lino, the charismatic gang boss. This movie isn't perfect, but I enjoyed watching it!
This movie was soooo wrongheaded--a complete waste of time.
Probably not the greatest movie you'll ever see, but still some pretty solid entertainment. The ordinary, girl-next-door heroine retains a believable character, keeping her focus, integrity, and sanity in the face of insurmountable odds - and she never falls for the charms of the sexy, pretty bad boy (who is, in fact, a terrible human being). And speaking of terrible human beings, the movie touches on the reality of gangs enslaving innocent people for their purposes.
A decent action thriller movie about a makeup artist who goes to Tijuana, Mexico to visit her friend and suddenly gets caught up in a storm of organized crime, cartel bosses, drugs, and violence. A remake of the 2011 Spanish film of the same name.
Average movie. Maybe a B-minus, it's not one I would be keen to see again. I also can't understand the 4, 4plus, and 5 stars it's getting from others. Very misleading. But each to his own as they say.
Remake of the 2011 Spanish Miss Bala. The 2011 version was excellent and grittier because their budget was probably a lot less. The newer Americanized version with Gina Rodriguez wasn't bad but there wasn't a scene where Miss Bala's hair and makeup were out of place. Had to put in more gunfire and explosions in the newer version with much more stereotypical Mexican cartel acting. And like most American movies these days ending was set up for a Miss Bala 2 if they want one.
A couple twists and turns that kept us watching. Not a great movie so we gave it a 3 star.
This movie is a complete waste of time. The heroine is completely unbelievable and the plot ludicrous and laughable. So grateful I didn't have to waste my money on this piece of Hollywood trash.
Excellent movie and actors!
