Add a CommentThe first few seasons were excellent. After that I just watched it to see the Saxons and the Franks. My favorite couple is Rollo and Gisla. And my favorite characters are King Egcbert and Ragnar and Aethelwulf. I really liked hearing the ancient languages, too.
This one is especially violent. It requires a "strong stomach". Even so, well done. The actors are good!
Stop already !!! Costumes great. Props great. Locations great. Acting still good. Story line, meh. Not that it ever followed true Viking history as we know it, putting everyone in the wrong country for starters, the show was once entertaining but should have stopped after season three.
This Vikings story line is getting pretty worn out.
Norse culture and history is fascinating in it's own right. It does not need to be embellished by projecting modern views and morals onto it. I am Norske, and have read several of the sagas and tales and some of the eddas.
Seasons 1 and 2 were ok, after that this show has been steadily deteriorating. It's good that season 6 will be it's last.
I love Vikings, I can't wait for the next season :)
Lots of blood and gore + the ongoing story of Viking brother against Viking brother makes for interesting drama. The added stories of the Saxons invaded is not in the forefront in these episodes. The Norsemen have more engaging stories anyway! FYI, this is only part one of this 5th season.
