Why is it so difficult for some people to understand that love is love? I'm so glad this story had a happy ending but in real life so many people's stories have tragic endings and all because of someone else's inability to meet them Love. Damn this author sure can write! She had me in tears by the end of the book. I loved it!

It exceeded my expectations! Great characters who you were rooting for the entire time, and it wasn't painfully depressing like so many other books in this genre (though I'll admit YA books are much better about that). I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a very hard time putting it down.

Set in Dunedin, this is a story about two high school students who fall in love only to have everything they know fall apart.
What I liked best about this book:
- The sense of place (I grew up in Dunedin, so the characters' movements around the city played like a movie in my mind)
- The realistic portrayal of teenagers (I've found some authors seem to try too hard with teen lingo and behaviour, and it just comes off as a bit insulting. Louie and Willa felt authentic to me; like they could have been real people)
- The dynamics in both characters' families (again, these felt authentic to me, like it could be any New Zealand family)
