However, it is his ambiguous friendship with a small boy that proves more dangerous when the boy's father, the reclusive farmer who intends to burn the forest is murdered. Tom Mahler is a man out of place. He is naïve, lost, loved and reviled. He is the prime suspect in a murder investigation.
