In this inspirational bi-lingual booklet, produced by the Māori Language Team at Te Puni Kōkiri in 2003, nine Maori participants talk about learning Te reo Māori as adult learners. Key themes in learning Māori as a second language are summarized based on their stories and wider research. Participants talk about their personal troubles and triumphs along with their motivations and commitments. All interviewed tangata have variant Māori language abilities and learning approaches.
The booklet includes a pull out section that includes learning strategies, a reference booklist and places one can go to learn Te reo Māori.
I really enjoyed the stories contained in this easy to read booklet. Having insight into the lives of the participants was humbling and inspiring.
I would recommend the booklet to all.
Those interviewed are as follows;

Tykaza Tapu
Ruakere Hond
