For new (and not so new) writers, the blank page can be intimidating and discouraging. Goldberg gives strategies and direction for those of us who have difficulty sitting down and taking pen in hand, or forcing the cursor across the screen. Much of the material is derived from creative writing workshops taught by the author, and the brief chapters are full of motivating ideas. Additionally, Goldberg couches much of her advice in a kind of spiritual context, allowing for the re-framing of creativity and inspiration.

This is one of the many books recommended by NaNoWriMo & Camp NaNoWriMo.

The author basically says the same few things throughout the book and hammers those few points into the ground. If you're just beginning to write, this might be helpful, otherwise I'd look elsewhere.
