Evocative color photography and a well-researched text trace the history of the Ford Motor Company's involvement in the tractor industry. Ford set that industry on its ear in the 1910s and 1920s with the introduction of the Fordson, and again in 1939 with the Ford-Ferguson 9N. Innovation at the drawing board, however, was often derailed by the ways of the business world. Leffingwell traces the history of Ford tractors to modern times, through the convoluted path of mergers and buyouts that ultimately led to the Ford Motor Company's complete separation from Ford tractors.
