Writing's not too flash, and the characters are a little two dimensional, the story a little far fetched, and yet it's an incredibly enjoyable book to read. Well recommended for anyone who isn't a snob.

These novels are just really fun. I know the writing isn't the best and he will never win a Pulitzer Prize, but McDermott is able to captivate me and these novels truly play out like action movies in my head. I think that anyone who is looking for a fun adventure story will enjoy these novels. I do suggest you read them all from the beginning as the stories are linked.
