Happening upon this book in the new book section of my branch library several years ago was one of the best things that has happened in my reading life. I have since then read everything he has written that is available in English so far. He packs more into small volumes that most writers manage in twice as many pages.

Carofiglio writes characters with such human warmth and so much depth and self-reflection that they are irresistible. His protagonists wry self-deprecation, his strong and very interesting women, his broad background references all make me eager for more of his novels to be translated into English. I am thankful that he is young enough to give me hope for many more to come.
