'I hate you' she said to me one afternoon. 'I really, really hate you.' Call me sensitive, but I couldn't help but take it personally.

Add a CommentParts of this book I thought were very funny, but for the most part I didn't enjoy this book. I really liked the pet story.
Absolutely hilarious and laugh out loud funny. My favorite stories center around Sedaris' recollections of learning to speak the French language while living in France.
The audio of this book is read by the author, which is perfect, since it's a rough autobiography of his life. I really enjoyed Sedaris' dry humor, his frankness and the ability to find humor in himself and the world around him.
David Sedaris is one of my favorite authors. He really does have a knack for turning every day experiences into hilarious stories. I was laughing out loud reading about his misadventures in learning French.
Sedaris is a master at recounting his quirky everyday incidents in such a genuine, but-of-course manner that kept me laughing through most of the book. This collection of essays centers on his time as an American learning to live in France, which appealed to my interests in travel and language. His essays “Me Talk Pretty One Day” and “Jesus Shaves” are by far my favorite, and the audio of Sedaris reading them is golden.
Very witty and very unbelievable stories. I enjoyed having the author read it on cd; it just made it that much more funny.
