Former Senator Selina Meyer finds that being Vice President of the United States is nothing like she hoped and everything that everyone ever warned her about. Following the whirlwind day-to-day existence of Vice President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her Emmy-winning role), Veep hilariously skewers everyday office politics, against the backdrop of the second highest office in the land. After the revelation at the end of Season 2 that the president will not run for reelection, Season 3 begins with Selina, eying a promotion, courting Iowa caucus voters at a signing for her new book, Some New Beginnings. Soon, Selina and her staff, back in D.C. for Mikes (Matt Walsh) wedding, learn that Secretary of Defense Maddox is resigning setting Selina up for a possible run in the presidential primaries against Maddox and her nemesis, war-vet Danny Chung.

The V.P decides to run for President. Trips to the early primary states are in order. VEEP proves real life and fiction are not far apart.

Considering this was made in 2014, the presidential debate sequences are amazing. One candidate who has never been in politics before, two minority candidates, a congressman who is so out of his league. Very funny in today's light.

Not nearly as good as seasons 1 and 2. Not serious enough to be drama, not funny enough to be comedy. I have a feeling that there were big changes on the writing staff. Portlandia keeps getting better and better, Veep has now lost my interest completely. Actually fell asleep watching it.

Veep is great although it seems to have taken a more serious tone the the first and second season. Not necessarily a bad thing but it seemed to me there were bigger laughs in the earlier seasons whereas this season took on a more dramatic tone. Four stars.

Because it's HBO and Julia Louis-Dreyfus has more freedom from network censors you catch the full glory of Selina Meyer. JLD has surpassed Jerry Seinfeld in comedic character genius.
