A Month of Winners!
Don't you love it when you unexpectedly stumble onto a run of truly great reads...?? October was a massive month for me behind the pages and it revealed some amazing and varied titles; one of which was a Man Booker Prize shortlisted debut novel (which would've been a worthy winner IMHO), another was an account of life in the the upper canopies of rainforests around the world. Another still w… (more)

Great Motown-heavy soundtrack, cool car chases, and a totally unique synchronisation of music and action. Pretty basic story but very enjoyable.
Dan's pick: The new film from Edgar Wright (the man behind Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim etc.). It centres on a young man who is obsessed with music and finds himself caught up in the world of high-stakes heist robberies with himself as the getaway driver. Full of action, humour, pathos, and t... Read More »

Your name's baby? B-a-b-y, baby?
-Yeah.
Well, then, you have us all beat. Every damn song is about you. We could drive back and forth across the states forever and never run out of "baby" songs. We might run out of gas, though.

It's Debbie. Debora.
-Oh, like the song. The Beck one? Yeah.
Well, except I'm d-e-b-o-r-a, and I think that's just d-e-b-r-a. I don't know that one.
-Oh, it goes, um... Jenny? The song's about him wanting to get with Jenny
and her sister, too, whose name is Debra.
So it's not even really about me. It's about the sister. My sister's name is Mary.
She has got all the songs. "Mary, Mary, where you goin' to?" "Proud Mary keep on burnin'." "The wind cries Mary." She's got me beat. Again. She's got endless songs. I got one.
-No, you got two.
What's the other one?
-Debora, the song I'm talking about.
Who by?
-Trex.

He is in a hell of a jam but one more job & he is finished payback to BIG BOSS..or is he.
I enjoyed the style and struggle of the characters.
This was such a great movie! I loved all the music played and the car chase scenes were fascinating. The actors/actresses did an amazing job in this film.
The first scene with the Jon Spencer track, 'Bellbottoms' is the best part of this film. After that? I'm not so sure. I know this is fiction, but shouldn't Baby have worn gloves? His fingerprints are all over the cars. Guess that part of police detective work was left out intentionally. Would have made for a nice sub plot though, oh well.
Get Away Driver. Oh, Baby. B-A-B-Y. Devil Behind The Wheel. Look How Cute Elgort Is. And Baby is the Driver. One Last Job. The Driver. Anything would've been a better title than Baby Driver. Here are my thoughts 1) a helluva car chase, I didn't realize it was that kind of movie 2) Aww, it's a nice romantic comedy 3) No, not very nice 4) Why is it called Baby Driver, that doesn't make sense 5) No seriously I dont understand Baby Driver 6) I feel anxious 7) that was a long time to find out why it's called Baby Driver.
As others have mentioned, the problem may be that I'm not a 10 year old boy. Or that Kingsman 2 can be a James Bond musical, but normal movies can't.
A slick style, deviant characters and fast action couldn't elevate this film's average quality.
Kevin S. played his usual robot-faced cool dude.
A great action film with plenty of humor to watch!
Can't wait for "Baby Driver 2!"
It's definitely something different! For me it was in a good way. Reminded me of the Ryan Gosling movie "Drive" a little. They have similar themes and both are stylish car chase action movies. I'd save Drive is better overall.
The story and characters are fairly simple and straightforward. I thought that made it easy to enjoy. Simple isn't automatically bad. I don't get at all the comments of people not understanding what was happening. Reasons to watch it would be for the car chases paired with classic songs and how that is unexpectedly cool, the actors involved, and a love story that while not complicated I found compelling in it's simplicity.
but yeah..if you go in looking for a standard action/car chase movie this might not be what you want. Seems like a "love it or hate it" kind of movie.
An incredibly stylish movie that won't please all, but is certainly one of my new favorites. The movie is the quintessential action movie that has a sort of retro vibe to it, which is helped by the amazing soundtrack. I have watched this movie many times and I still feel like coming back to it regularly!
