Was Britpop even really a thing? Maybe not. But it's a tag we apply. A lot of good bands and music came out in that golden time at the end of the 90s. Miranda Sawyer was in the thick of it. She interviewed bands and artists, and was part of the scene. She wrote for my fave music mag at the time - Select. Miranda's approach is to talk about a song and a band, and this is a great way into their origins, music and influence. It's fun and informative and lots of greats are in here - Suede, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers, Elastica, Radiohead, Stereolab, Tricky, and - of course - Oasis and Blur.
