Mānuka Stories

Get ready for a summer filled with stories, adventures, and endless imagination!
Participate in our Mānuka Stories Reading Challenge from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026 and be in to win cool prizes.
You can complete the challenges and earn stickers in so many different ways - attending one of our great programmes or events, listening to a story, read in one of our Reading Nooks....., and so many more!
The summer-flowering mānuka is a symbol of challenge and often plays a key role in pōwhiri (welcome ceremony) where it is laid out for visitors to accept. For Māori, the mānuka also signifies connection to whenua (the land), with a strong link to the physical environment being the ultimate source of stories.
When the mānuka blooms, it’s time to read.
Embrace the challenge this summer, keep an eye on the website for more details
