Event description

Robot Week at Shirley Library - Demystifying AI: How Smart Technology is Changing Our World

Come along and discover how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help (not replace!) humans, and why understanding it is something we all benefit from.
AI is no longer just science fiction -it now plays a role in everything from voice assistants to robots, online shopping, and education. But what exactly is AI, and how is it shaping the world we live in?
This talk will introduce the basics of AI in a friendly, easy-to-understand way, using real-life examples - from classrooms and home. We’ll explore some of the amazing things that AI can do, clear up common myths, explore its potential and implications, and reflect on how we can all become more confident, informed users of this technology - whatever our age or background.
This talk is given by our special guest speaker, Professor Kathryn MacCallum from the University of Canterbury.

Ages: 12 years +

Cost: $FREE

Bookings Required: Book online here - From Thursday 27 November, 7pm
