Emily and her mum will:
- Bring their real Te Araroa tramping packs and invite tamariki to help them
unpack the gear and set up a campsite right in the library.
(tent, sleeping mats, cooking gear – the works!) - Share stories from the trail, including readings from Emilie Walks Te Araroa
- Explore native birds, plants, and the wonders of nature
- Finish with Q&A, book sales and signings, and a craft activity
Emilie has walked thousands of kilometres through Aotearoa’s backcountry and her personal diaries from Te Araroa inspired the book, which also contains her own illustrations.

The book tells the true story of Emilie, who walked the entire 3,000-kilometre Te Araroa Trail with her mum, when she was just seven years old. It’s an honest, funny, nature-filled adventure told in Emilie’s own voice, celebrating courage, resilience, whānau, and the magic of the outdoors.
