Lily Duval is an author and illustrator passionate about the natural world. She illustrated Critters of Aotearoa: 50 Bizarre but Lovable Members of our Wildlife Community, by Nicola Toki, which was chosen as a Storylines Notable Book 2023. Lily also illustrated Dragons of Aotearoa by Robinne Weiss (July 2024). She writes and illustrates for a range of conservation organisations and has been the researcher and writer for RNZ’s ‘Critter of the Week’ show since 2021. She has a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Canterbury. Her illustrated nonfiction book, Six-legged Ghosts (Canterbury University Press 2024), examines attitudes to insects in art, language, culture and science. Lily lives in Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour and spends her free time gardening and tramping.
