Event description

Browse through a carefully curated selection of architectural books and creative media from Christchurch City Libraries.

Open up a book and leaf through some pages; pick up a pencil and sketch out your thoughts; slip on some headphones and drift through an audiobook or doco — relax, reflect and reimagine your city.

There will be something for all ages.

All materials supplied. These will include:

  • A carefully curated selection of architectural books for both children and adults – novels, graphic novels, non-fiction, picture books and more
  • iPads to watch documentaries on
  • iPads and Apple Pencils to sketch with
  • traditional sketch materials to draw and paint with
  • a selection of templates to adapt into your own artwork – these are based on the work of Gothic Revival Architect Benjamin Mountfort

Reflection Lounge at Te Matatiki Toi Ora | The Arts Centre runs from 10am-4pm; drop in at any time. Children under 14 must be supervised by an adult. Please note that access to The Common Room involves steps.

This free event is part of Open Christchurch 2026.
