  • Told from an 8 year olds perspective about her "friend" othermother. This creeped me out with it's effective use of establishing dread, pace and characters.
    Book, 2024New York : Del Rey, [2024] — HORROR
  • Much better than the movie as the book leans into and isolates the horror within family, with alcoholism being the underlying theme.
    Book, 1977London : New English Library, 1977. — HORROR
  • Definitely domestic dread and even though it's not horror it's incredibly horrifying.
    Book, 1992London : Minerva, 1992. — FICTION
  • Funny, unhinged, woman's capacity for violence shown to its extremities, full of unlikable characters. A bloody good time.
Book, 2025New York : Liveright Publishing Corporation, [2025] — HORROR
  •  Very creepy, very fast paced, unnerving antagonists, unsettling vibe and the hidden messages were fantastic fun.
    Book, 2024New York : Emily Bestler Books/Atria, 2024. — HORROR
  • Ominous, scary, sinister, quick read with light writing but very good.
    Book, 2021New York : MCD x FSG Originals/Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2021. — HORROR
  • Haven't finished it but enjoying it so far, particularly the Swedish aspects, intrigued to see where it's going to go.
    Book, 2008Melbourne : The Text Publishing Company, 2008, (2011 [printing]). — HORROR
  • Fantasy not horror but has definite horror vibes, set during the rise of orthodox Christianity in Russia with a malicious Dobby and many other creatures from Slavic mythology especially the ancient vampires, creepy and very good story.
Book, 2018New York : Del Rey, an imprint of Random House, [2018] — FICTION
  • Not scary but really liked it, the epistolary lay out was interesting, great introduction to gothic horror.
    Book, 1979New York : Doubleday, [1979]. — FICTION
  • Beautifully written example of grief horror, really loved it!
    Book, 2021London : Titan Books, 2021. — HORROR
  •  Light humor, really creepy, playing around with the form so very meta, uses characters from previous Tremblay stories, interested to see what his novels are like.
    Book, 2019New York : William Morrow, [2019] — HORROR
  • Deeply tragic, well-paced, left me feeling like I needed to read something entirely wholesome to cleanse the palette after.
Book, 2024[Place of publication not identified] : Apocalypse Party, [2024] — HORROR
  • Great existential gas lighting, creepy and incredibly clever.
    Book, 1972London : Joseph, 1972. — FICTION
  • A light, quick read about toxic relationships, the lengths people will go to come out on top, unlikable characters, lush setting, Voodoo! Zombies! Quite enjoyed it.
