  The spotlight may have been seriously hogged by that Absolute fella but, this is the best Batman book you should have read in 2025.

• Mao. 1

  Takahashi, Rumiko, 1957-

  Add Mao. 1 to your for later shelf

  Rumiko-san is one of the most revered of mangaka in Japan. This is the first series by her that I've read. Excellent stuff so far. Reminiscent of Miyazaki at his best. (NB: this was another recommendation from the aforementioned Zdarsky vid)

  How often do we get to see Mignola work his magic on both art- and script-duties for a book since Hellboy went to Hell? Not nearly enough, I say. Bowling With Corpses... is a gentle reminder that he is still at the top of his game.

  Without a doubt the best series in DC's Absolute-Universe line of books. Maybe even the best thing they've released in 2025.

  I saw a video of Chip Zdarsky comparing The Way Of The House Husband to Matt Fraction's classic Hawkeye run. A very high bar to set indeed (It's an all-time fav of mine). But I'm loving it so far.

  As with Usagi above, there is always a place reserved in my end of year wrap for Junji Itō. Still unparalleled when it come to creeping you the freak out.
