Ōtautahi Christchurch Local History: Sydenham

Sydenham was a self-governing borough from 1877 until its amalgamation with Christchurch in 1903. As a birthplace of Christchurch working class identity, it has strong ties to political radicalism, workers' rights, women's suffrage, and the prohibition movement. This is a collection of books and online sources to help you explore this historic suburb from its early days to post earthquake recovery. A Christchurch City Libraries list.
