In the light of Japanese successes following the outbreak of war in the Pacific there was an urgent need to equip the Royal New Zealand Air Force with modern combat aircraft. But this was easier said than done. Eventually the Royal New Zealand Air Force received four hundred and twenty-four Corsairs under the Lease Lend programme - the largest number of any aircraft type in the inventory of the young service. This book covers all aspects of the Corsairs service with the RNZAF; training, operational squadrons, the Servicing Units and post war service in Japan. Changes from the first edition: -The main text is not changed. -A small number of photo captions are improved . -Some photos have been exchanged for new ones and some existing photos made smaller to fit -others beside them. -Some colour profiles have been tweaked.
